Wetton ,walking and bacon cobs

A memory shared by Lydia Hind

When I remember Uncle Joe (no relation) it’ will always be up at Wetton in the Peak District. When I was little he’d cycle up through rain and shine, wearing unfeasibly short shorts and stay in a little tent. Later with Jean in their van. He made amazing bacon on a little outside stove at breakfast. The smell was incredible.

He was always great company. When I was little I loved him because he didn’t talk down to me, I liked to walk along with him on walks. When I was older, I’d try to sit near him in the pub. He was full of wisdom and mischief.

I will always remember and miss him. Lydia x
